The Project DP, formerly The Dancepull Project, was founded in 2006 by Filipino dance artist Dwight Rodrigazo. His vision and advocacy now live on through his protégés — Razel Mitchao (Artistic Director) and Akira Arrieta Abao (Associate Artistic Director) — who continue to propel the company’s creative mission forward.
The Project DP has graced prestigious stages both in the Philippines and abroad, captivating audiences with its bold artistry. Its dancers have earned acclaim and bagged awards at international choreographers competition such as the Yokohama Dance Collection EX 2025 in Japan.
Beyond performance, the company creates full-length ballet works that merge classical grace with contemporary vision. Artistic Director Razel Mitchao and Associate Artistic Director Akira Arrieta Abao are celebrated modern-contemporary dance masters and international ballet competition jurors in contemporaray dance, continuing the company’s legacy of excellence.
ABOUT US
Through its official ballet school, DP Ballet, The Project DP continues to shape the next generation of Filipino dance artists with excellence in both classical and modern-contemporary dance. In 2015, a DP Ballet junior student became the first Filipino to win the highest prize; the Grand Prix Award at the Asian GrandPrix International Ballet Competition in Hong Kong. Its students continue to shine, earning top awards at prestigious competitions such as the CCP National Ballet Competition, Philippine Dance Cup, and WBAC Grand Prix Canada.
Guided by a distinguished roster of dance masters and choreographers from its mother company, excelling in both classical ballet and modern-contemporary dance.
Their masterworks have captivated stages worldwide, winning grand prizes at prestigious national and international choreography and ballet competitions, like the Yokohama Dance Collection EX 2015, Youth American Grand Prix Philippines 2022 Philippine Dance Cup 2024 and the World Ballet Grand Prix Mongolia 2024.
